Malaysia 'will experience a nightmare' in AFF Cup semi second leg in Thailand - Chatchai Budprom

Thailand goalkeeper Chatchai Budprom has warned Malaysia that they are in for a "nightmare" in the second leg of the 2018 AFF Cup semifinal in Bangkok on Wednesday.

Saturday's first leg ended 0-0 in Kuala Lumpur, though Malaysia were very much in the ascendancy, creating and missing chance after chance against the sluggish defending champions.

While Malaysia arrive in Thailand in confident mood -- though unhappy about the initial training facilities provided -- the Thai No. 1 asserted that the second leg at the Rajamangala Stadium will be very different.

"Malaysia produced good display in the first game, giving us a tough time at their home ground, but tomorrow will be the other way around," Chatchai told reporters in Bangkok on Tuesday.

"Since they have landed in Thailand, I think they are well aware of what they will be facing with tomorrow. They know what to expect. Different atmosphere, different people and places will make them realise that they are in Thailand where all the fans support the War Elephants.

"I wish Malaysia a good sleep tonight because I believe they will experience a nightmare tomorrow."

Malaysia coach Tan Cheng Hoe knows that it will not be easy to defeat Thailand, looking for a sixth regional title, on home soil but believes in his team.

"In Rajamangala, the atmosphere will be similar to Bukit Jalil and I believe the players can absorb the pressure. We will play entertaining football and hopefully surprise the fans there," said Cheng Hoe.

The boss wants a repeat of the first leg performance with just one difference: An end product to the dominance.

"The players played one of their best games in the tournament," he said. "They were spirited and focused and the intensity I demanded was there. But in a football match, you have to take your chances.

"The attackers were not composed in front of goal. If we want to get into the final, they will have to be patient and smart with their chances."

The winner will meet either Vietnam or the Philippines in the final. Vietnam lead 2-1 from the first leg.
