Bukit Jalil Stadium to host Suzuki Cup final second leg

The Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) and the ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) have confirmed that the 90,000-capacity National Stadium in Bukit Jalil will host the second leg of the AFF Suzuki Cup final between Malaysia and Thailand on Dec. 20.

Malaysia will travel to Thailand to play Wednesday's first leg at the Rajamangala Stadium in Bangkok.

Coach Dollah Salleh's Malaysia are seeking to win their second elite continental title -- their only win came in 2010 under coach K. Rajagobal when they defeated Indonesia 4-2 on aggregate in the two-legged final. The National Stadium had been the venue of the first final which Harimau Malaya won 3-0.

"We, together with ASEAN Football Federtion (AFF), inspected the pitch at the National Stadium," FAM general-secretary Datuk Hamidin Mohd Amin told New Straits Times. "The AFF is happy with the quality of the pitch and have given us their approval to host the match at the stadium."

In a separate announcement, the AFF reconfirmed that the Bukit Jalil National Stadium was chosen over the Shah Alam Stadium, which had hosted the first leg of the semifinal against Vietnam on Dec.7. "The National Stadium is the most suitable venue as it can accommodate about 90,000 people as compared to 70,000 at the Shah Alam Stadium," Datuk Hamidin told the AFF website.

Datuk Hamidin said that 90,000 match tickets will be sold. Tickets for adults would cost Malaysian Ringgit 50 and tickets for children under 12 would be priced at Malaysian Ringgit 10.

Tickets are now available online. Tickets sales in the stadium will start on Thursday.

Datuk Hamidin added that the Thailand Football Association (TFA) has allotted 2,500 tickets to FAM for the first leg of the final.
