Jack Wilshere is slowly getting back to his best as he regains full fitness, according to Bournemouth teammate Andrew Surman.
Wilshere played 80 minutes of the Cherries' 2-2 draw at Watford on Saturday and hit the post twice for Eddie Howe's side.
The England international joined Bournemouth on a season-long loan from Arsenal to get his injury-hit career back on track, and Surman says the midfielder is quickly becoming a key part of the team.
"You can see Jack is a class player, little touches and little things he does," Surman is quoted as saying by the Daily Mirror. "On another day against Watford he could have had a hat trick. He's great to play with. Give him the ball anywhere on the pitch and he will create something.
"He's a great addition to our squad and he is getting that fitness back slowly but surely. He's not lacking confidence, he is playing really well. It would have been nice for him to score against Watford and he deserved a goal.
"The main thing for him is fitness. He's always had that ability, that's not in question, it's just his fitness at the moment."
Wilshere missed the majority of last season with a broken ankle, and has been left out of recent England squads by both Sam Allardyce and Gareth Southgate this term.
He has been eased in gradually by Howe at Bournemouth, but Surman thinks Wilshere is ready to take on a bigger role.
"He is getting there on the fitness," Surman said. "He would probably say he could have played 90 [minutes at Watford] and it's just working him back in slowly -- don't overdo it and risk injury.
"He's looking fit and sharp and he is getting sharper, it is just keeping that going. It's a massive lift to have someone of that stature and quality in the dressing room. It boosts us when you have players of that quality in your team and gives you more belief."
Howe, meanwhile, has said Wilshere will be disappointed to not have made the latest England squad, but that Bournemouth would benefit from him staying behind.
"From a selfish point of view was it better for him to miss out this time? From a Bournemouth manager's point of view with the club's best interests at heart, then yes," Howe said.
"But from Jack's point of view, I know how much he wants to play for England, that is one of his main motivations and he is desperate to play. I would love to work with him for two weeks."
