Adriano Galliani to leave AC Milan as soon as takeover deal completed

AC Milan's general manager Adriano Galliani has confirmed he will leave the San Siro as soon as the takeover of the club goes through.

Galliani, Silvio Berlusconi's right-hand man throughout his 31-year presidency, said "nobody had offered me anything" under new owners the Sino-Europe group.

"I'm not available to fill any other role," Galliani told Mediaset.

"After 30 years I can only continue as general manager, but nobody has offered me anything.

"I'm not willing to fill any other role than the one I've always done. You have got to show a bit of respect for my career."

Former Inter Milan general manager Marco Fassone has been named as the man who will fill the role being vacated by Galliani.

And Galliani added: "I will continue to fill my role with the maximum enthusiasm right up until the final day.

"I have an excellent relationship with Mr Fassone, it's just that I am not willing to stay as an adviser or consultant."

Galliani has been tipped to become president of the Lega Serie A, a post he previously held between 2002 and 2006, when he leaves Milan.

That is likely to be at the end of this year, which is the deadline for the Chinese investors to complete their takeover.
