Silvio Berlusconi 'furious' at AC Milan struggles following investment

AC Milan president Silvio Berlusconi admits he does not know when he will see any return on the €150 million he has invested into the club recently.

Milan currently find themselves in sixth place in Serie A, eight points adrift of league-leading Inter Milan, despite having brought in the likes of Carlos Bacca, Luiz Adriano, Mario Balotelli, Alessio Cerci and Alessio Romagnoli this summer, as well as coach Sinisa Mihajlovic.

Speaking at a conference of his political party Forza Italia, Corriere della Sera reports Berlusconi as saying: "I'm still in love with Milan and just think that I even spent €150 million this year -- wouldn't you be furious?

"And yet I don't know when we are going to get back to winning things. Aren't you furious too?"

The Rossoneri are desperate to return to Europe next season, preferably in the Champions League, after missing out for the past two seasons.

Some of the pressure appears to have been lifted from Mihajlovic after a 4-2 win at Frosinone at the weekend, which came after his side booked their place in the quarterfinals of the Coppa Italia.

That competition, which sees them face Carpi in the next round and then -- potentially -- the winner of the clash between second-division Spezia and third-division Alessandria in the semifinals, may now represent their easiest route into the Europa League, with four points separating them from fifth-placed Roma, who currently occupy the final European qualifying berth via Serie A.
