Fernando Torres has said he is determined to make an impact at AC Milan despite not scoring since marking his first start for the club more than a month ago.
Torres, at the San Siro on a two-year loan deal from Chelsea, has failed to find the back of the net in four appearances since scoring in the 2-2 draw at Empoli on Sept. 23.
The 30-year-old found himself on the bench for Sunday's 1-1 draw with Fiorentina amid concerns he does not fit in with the style of play employed by coach Filippo Inzaghi.
Stephan El Shaarawy, Keisuke Honda and Jeremy Menez have been Inzaghi's preferred choices up front so far this season, but Torres has warned his detractors not to write him off just yet.
"I've come here to leave a mark," he told Spanish radio station Onda Cero. "We want to qualify for Europe again and we're trying to rebuild a great Milan. We're aiming high, but we need to keep our feet on the ground.
"I'm proud of what I did in Spain and in England and I would be happy if things would go the same way in Italy."
Torres is set to be restored to the starting XI for the trip to Cagliari on Wednesday night with Inzaghi rotating his forwards for their first midweek fixture of the season.
The former Liverpool and Atletico Madrid striker is hopeful that a good run of form in Serie A will earn him a recall for Spain.
"The most important thing right now is Milan, and I hope that by playing here it can get me back into the national team," he said.
