Ajaccio's Ochoa eyes move abroad

Ajaccio's Mexico goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa has hinted that he will look for a move to another European league this summer.

In an interview with the website mercato365.com, Ochoa said he was happy with the modest Corsican club, with whom he is in a second season, but added that he will seek talks on his future come the summer.

"For now, my focus is on the end of this season," Ochoa said. "After that, the time will come to discuss things with the board. But I don't hide my desire to experience different leagues and my ambition to progress and win titles."

Ochoa denied that he has any preferred destination when he does eventually move on, saying only that he finds "certain foreign leagues particularly attractive."

The player caused a major surprise when he agreed to sign for Ajaccio following their promotion to Ligue 1 in the summer of 2011, but has missed just one game since and was a key part of their successful battle against the drop last season.

"I have felt really good ever since arriving in France," Ochoa added. "Both on the field and off the field, everything is going well. Mexico remains my country but life is totally different there. I don't regret my choice."

The former Club America 'keeper is a huge star in his homeland and was being linked with PSG before testing positive for clenbuterol while with Mexico at the Gold Cup in the summer of 2011.

He was later acquitted by the Mexican Football Federation, but the damage done to his reputation meant no leading European sides were prepared to take a gamble on him at that time.

Ajaccio, who play in front of average crowds of barely 6,000, are currently 13th in the Ligue 1 table, five points above the relegation zone.
